Women in Leadership & Design (WILD) is kicking off our new speaker series “WILD Voices” on Friday, February 24, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. PT. As we continue honoring Black History Month, we’re excited to spotlight two black design leaders among us. Join us for a live virtual conversation between Dee Speed, Director of Design for YouTube Music and Premium, and Bev Maeda, WILD’s Programming Lead and fellow Googler.

Dee Speed is a Design Director with 14+ years of experience leading teams at companies like YouTube, Google, Disney, Yahoo, and Flickr. She has consulted at other tech companies like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and ESPN. Her background includes formal practice as a fine artist, photographer, digital graphic designer, illustrator, interaction designer, industrial designer, and interior designer. Her work spans digital, published print, physical and interiors.

Our “WILD Voices” speaker series features candid conversations with Bay Area women and non-binary design leaders. Together we explore singular journeys in leadership and design, and delve into imaginative perspectives on the industry. Sharing these speakers’ unique points of view and stories of lived experience drives visibility for new models of creative leadership that expand our collective possibilities.

Women in Leadership & Design (WILD) is an initiative of AIGA San Francisco. Our mission is to amplify women and non-binary designers’ collective power and visibility. We mobilize and energize impact in design leadership by focusing our work on connecting, elevating, sharing, and educating designers in our community. Often, we do this through events like group meals, speaker series, workshops, meetups, and more. We exist to redesign leadership, together. Learn more about WILD here.
