How you can help those affected by the fires in the North Bay, or get help if you are a evacuee

The following list of resources was originally published in SF Gate October 9 Written by Katie Dowd

HOW TO HELP RIGHT NOW:

  • Santa Rosa has asked anyone who is safe to consider volunteering. They need help checking in evacuees and distributing supplies at both Elsie Allen High School and Cook Middle School. The Red Cross has a sign-in sheet here.
  • Do not call emergency services unless you see active, unattended flames or a life-threatening situation. Emergency services around the Bay Area are overwhelmed right now, and do not need more calls unless you have an immediate emergency.
  • Stay off the roads, if possible. You are hindering emergency vehicles and urgent evacuees from getting through.

    • HOW TO HELP ANY TIME:

  • Donations to Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund.
  • You can donate to the Red Cross, which helps distribute disaster relief aid.

  • Designers Beau Bergeron and Shyanne B. have designed shirts and other items in which all of the profits will be given to those directly affected by the wine country fires.

    There are shelters all over the North Bay set up to assist and temporarily house. They are:

  • Sonoma County Fairgrounds at 1350 Bennet Valley Road, Santa Rosa Finley Community Center at 2060 West College Avenue, Santa Rosa (THIS SHELTER IS AT CAPACITY)
  • Santa Rosa Veterans Building at 1351 Maple Avenue, Santa Rosa (THIS SHELTER IS AT CAPACITY)
  • Petaluma Community Center at 320 North McDowell Blvd, Petaluma (THIS SHELTER IS AT CAPACITY)
  • Sebastopol Community Center at 390 Morris Street, Sebastopol Cloverdale Citrus Fair at 1 Citrus Fair Drive, Cloverdale
  • Sonoma Valley High School at 20000 Broadway, Sonoma

    Multiple shelters are open to assist pet owners. They are:

  • Napa County Animal Shelter at 942 Hartle Ct, Napa
  • Santa Rosa Fairgrounds at 1350 Bennett Valley Road. Access the Fairgrounds via Gate 7 on Aston Ave
  • Cloverdale Citrus Fair at 1 Citrus Fair Drive, Cloverdale
  • Vintage High farm at 1375 Trower Ave. in Napa will take in larger animals and has the equipment to transport them, if needed.
