In memory of Thomas Ingalls
A Buddhist proverb reminds us, “Everything that has a beginning has an ending. Make your peace with that and all will be well.” An alphagram of things Tom loved about San Francisco would be at least a “double gusto,” two entries for each letter, beginning with Arch and Archive, and ending with Zen Center and Zuni. T, pronounced tea or tee, would be Ten Arkansas and Thursday Night Dinner. And M might just be Millions of Memories. May our joie de Tom console us, delight us, inspire us.

In Honor of Steve Jones
Thank you for teaching graphic design in California College of the Arts’ Pre-College program. Over 20 summers you worked with close to 300 high school students - making a major impact on so many who have gone on to art school and careers in graphic design. Your consistently high standards, challenging assignments inspired the best and changed lives.

In Honor of Steve Jones
For his contributions to Francophone School of Oakland, where Steve volunteers as a yearbook coordinator and graphic designer. He works with us to build staff, student, and volunteer capacity *and* to provide design work out of the goodness of his heart. He has been featured in our middle school Career Week to inspire our students, and he has designed a truly stunning yearbook for our students and staff to enjoy. We appreciate you so much Steve! Congratulations on your many professional achievements and your support of our school.

In Memory of August de los Reyes
August was a visionary and inclusive design pioneer, a design leader and a friend. He used his experience and skillset as a designer to make the world a better place for all and we lost him too soon. I'm making this donation to honor his memory for his passion for the design community.

In Memory of Michael Patrick Cronan
This is a "classic" Michael story from 2005, originally published as an essay in Petrula Vrontikis' AIGA series:
"Paying Your Dues"
Paying one’s dues is how one earns self-respect, and the respect of others. Payment comes in different forms. Time, energy, intellectual attention, and patience are all legal tender; most dues are paid in combinations of those items. And rarely do we figure the love of doing something into the equation, but love and passion are powerful in finding the resources to make the payment.

In Honor of Eric Heiman
“Eric provided me with my first real job out of design school. Getting to work alongside him and the team at Volume was an amazing experience. Besides getting some tremendous work experience, I learned a ton about myself and what I my contributions to the design community should be. Without Eric taking a chance on me, I would not have my own practice here in SF. He changed my life for the better and I am forever grateful for that.
