Claudia de Almeida

Education Co-Chair

Claudia de Almeida is an award winning designer and art director. Claudia grew up in the south of Brazil and moved to the USA at the age of 17 to attend college. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in New York City with a BFA in Graphic Design, Claudia worked for nearly 10 years as a designer and Art Director in New York, moving to San Francisco in 2013 to serve as Design Director at WIRED.

Claudia has worked for The New York Times, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Blender, More Magazine, New York, Domino and Gourmet Special Editions and Men’s Health.

Inspired by the instructors at SVA, Claudia went on to teach there; and she continues to educate designers-in-training through type classes at California College of the Arts in San Francisco.

In 2014, Claudia launched o Banquinho with the redesign of Real Simple magazine. Now she spends her time working on projects she loves; jetting between San Francisco, New York City, Seattle and anywhere great projects take her.

Claudia joins AIGA SF as the education co-chair in the hopes of paying forward the infinite inspiration and learning opportunities provided by AIGA throughout the years that were integral to her education and development as a graphic designer.
