Karla_D

Karla started drawing as a kid and never stopped exploring art and design as a powerful way to tell stories and connect people. As a full-time freelance designer in San Francisco, she loves the challenge of finding new solutions in design that offer the possibility for renewal and breakthrough opportunities. Karla spent the last 8 years specializing in food packaging and brand development, helping to launch products for both national and international brands such as Ghirardelli, Lindt Chocolate, Nutiva Super Foods, Lotus Biscoff, Ana’s Cookies, Robeks Juice, Ocho Candy and Raley’s. Her business includes brand/identity development, product packaging & label design, point of sale design, advertising, promotions for print and web, visual structuring of multi-tiered brands and art direction for photo shoots.

Karla loves doing pro bono design for local nonprofit organizations that are doing critical community building work around racial justice, worker’s rights and displacement, like Communities United Against Violence, for which she serves on the board of directors. In her free time, she enjoys salsa dancing and getting her hands dirty with her 2 year-old daughter as they find adventure in and around the city. Karla is excited to help expand AIGA’s member base in San Francisco as Membership Co-Chair.
