Social Impact Co-Chair
David Peters is an independent design consultant who helps people create and deliver on ideas that make a difference. He has directed numerous projects for the Wikimedia Foundation, Creative Commons, and Wiki Education that advocate for the free knowledge movement and open systems.
In team leadership roles at MetaDesign (SF) and Two Twelve Associates (NYC), David has guided design innovation programs for clients as diverse as the Ocean Conservancy, Barclays Bank, Harper Collins, Ernst & Young, Citibank, and Brittanica.com. He was co-lead of the design team for U.N. World Environment Week that proclaimed Green Cities, when 50 mayors from around the world signed The Urban Accords, and Al Gore debuted An Inconvenient Truth.
David has taught in the design programs at Yale, RISD, and his alma mater, NSCAD University in Canada. He is well-known for his insights into motion design and the design history of film through his DesignFilms project which has been presented at festivals and conferences worldwide.
