D.Talks: For a Few Dollars More: The Value of Design
D.Talks is an ongoing series of panel discussions presenting practical information about current trends and hot topics in the world of design and business. Our goal is to foster robust dialog and critical thinking, so crowd participation is an integral part of each event.
Many designers find it difficult to talk about money, often assuming that their work should speak for itself. But like it or not, businesses and decision makers attach a value to creative work that can affect the entire design process, including the final solution.
Join AIGA SF as we discuss how the ability to articulate the value of design to clients and non-designers elevates any design team from order takers to strategic partners. Topics will include:

Jordan Berg, Co-Founder
Recognized for his dynamic brand-building innovation and thinking across multi-disciplined teams and marketing channels, Jordan has recently completed projects for world-class brands such as Verizon, Suzuki, Reuters, Capital One, Disney and ESPN.
Jordan has received many of the industries top honors from leading organizations including The Webby’s, Web Marketing Association and Communication Arts. Jordan is a regular contributor to Fox Business, iMedia Connection, Media Magazine and speaks at national conferences—including ad:tech and shop.org.
Jordan makes his home in San Francisco and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Vermont and Masters Studies from the San Francisco Academy of Art.
Matt Cooke, Co-Owner
Matt has over 15 years’ experience designing for print and interactive applications. He set up his first business in the UK in 2000, and is now a co-owner and Creative Director at Iron Creative in San Francisco, where he has led major interactive projects for Levi’s, Dockers, The North Face and Specialized Bicycles.
Matt teaches User Experience part time in the School of Web Design and New Media at the Academy of Art University, and has been a visiting lecturer at the University of San Francisco, Arkansas State University and Arizona State University. He was formerly on the Board of Directors of the AIGA San Francisco, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a Master’s Degree in Typo/Graphic Design.
Johnathan Tann, Managing Director
With more than 20 years of interactive design experience, Johnathan has grown and led diverse, multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver innovative products and services for Global 100 companies.
As Managing Director at Odopod, he consistently produces results by negotiating revenue generating deals and focusing on building long term relationships with clients including Sony Global, Coca-Cola, Google and Tesla Motors. JT has also been an integral part of the strategic acquisition of Nurun + Odopod and sits on the Executive Committee of the company.

Josh Levine, Director of Strategy
For over a decade brand strategist Josh Levine has helped local and global organizations engage customers and empower employees. Today his agency Great Monday designs employer brand programs for business leaders passionate about building cultures to deliver more powerful customer experiences.
Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Factors from Tufts University and a degree in Graphic Design from the Academy of Art University. He regularly speaks, writes, and leads workshops about the intersection of brand and business.
