AIGA SF Student Lecture: Marc Catala and Pablo Juncadella from Mucho

As you know, it takes a lot of work, determination, and in many cases a bit of luck to be a successful graphic designer, and college is just the beginning of your graphic design journey.
With that in mind, AIGA San Francisco is hosting a lecture series — exclusively for students – featuring speakers from some of the most respected design agencies from around the world. During each lecture, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the arc of one designer’s career and be inspired by works from their college days through to the present day.
We encourage you to absorb their insights and take this opportunity to ask questions and share in their experience and advice. In addition, each speaker will create a limited edition poster for their talk, which will be given away to every attending student at the event.
Speakers:
Marc Català and Pablo Juncadella from Mucho
Mucho is a visual communications and graphics studio whose vast portfolio showcases work in various disciplines from art direction, strategic and corporate identity, editorial design and packaging to graphic communications, digital design and motion graphics.
Mucho values the visual ambition of projects as much as the commercial will, and considers excellence its permanent objective. Ideas are at each project’s heart and all work is done with the intention of it being unique, with a constant effort to avoid repetitive formulas.
Mucho’s singularity and diversion, and the sum of its different partners, offers a rich variety of solutions and a wide space for critical shared thoughts. The closeness between the partners and their clients is indispensable and the know-how of the clients is basic for the construction of each project.
Marc Català and Pablo Juncadella founded Mucho in 2003 after been working at Grafica (Madrid/Barcelona) and Pentagram (London). Between 2003 and 2005 they combined their work with their creative direction for the British newspaper The Observer. In September 2010 Tilman Solé joined the studio – after working 10 years at Summa (6 as creative director) and starting Hey!Studio with Verónica Fuertes – to lead his own team in Mucho. In his previous phase, he was responsible for the redesign of RTVE’s corporate identity, as well as Barcelona Televisión, Derbi and the signage of Adif’s stations.
Mucho’s eclectic drive and interest in experimentation has led it to work with small clients (Xocoa, Demano, Demasié, Boolab) and multinationals (Carolina Herrera, BMW, Random House Mondadori, Hachette Filipacci, W Hotels, Philip Morris), collaborations with cultural institutions (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Monumenta, Redesearte Paz) and projects in a number of different cities, including London, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Milan and Mexico City.
Mucho’s work has received wide recognition from the design community, earning 1 D&AD Yellow Pencil, 12 Laus Trophies, 2 Gran Laus, 3 Silver Art Directors Club of Europe Awards, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Art Directors Club Mentions (New York) and the Award for the Best Editorial Supplement of the Year by the Magazine Design Awards.
Their work has also been displayed in various national and international publications such as El País, Wallpaper, Elle Decoration, El Mundo, Studio Culture, Editorial Made in Spain, Etapes Grafiques and Monocle.

I’d like to bring my Advanced Graphic Design class to this lecture. May I tag along as an instructor?
Yes. All design classes are encouraged to come to this lecture. All instructors welcome as well. One of the most creative and talented agencies in Europe are coming all the way from Barcelona to talk exclusively to students. Definitely not one to be missed
@Ana: Can you contact me directly to discuss?
