Studio Tours: Stimulant

Join us as we get a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of five influential Bay Area design studios during our Fall / Winter Studio Tours. See projects in progress, learn about different firms’ cultures and methodologies, and rub elbows with design luminaries and up-and-comings in the environment that inspires their best work.

Whether at the touch of a finger, the wave of an arm, or in the palm of your hand, Stimulant specializes in using emerging interaction methods and technologies to bring people together. They leverage innovations such as single touch/multi-touch input, gestural interfaces, computer vision, and ubiquitous mobile devices to allow one user or many to share a computing experience. Emerging hardware and interaction paradigms are neither their hobbies nor just areas of research — they’re their primary focus and core business. Based in San Francisco and Seattle, Stimulant uses these techniques and technologies to design and build digital experiences that connect people and ideas for Fortune 100 companies and some of the world’s best-known brands.

Darren David, CEO
For over 15 years, Darren has traversed the blurry edges at the intersection of technology and design, exploring nearly every conceivable project role as both client and contributor. His rich and storied career has wound from paper to pixels to people, across a myriad of companies and ventures that ultimately led to several “world’s firsts” and awards. At Stimulant, he provides business, vision and experience design leadership for an inspiring team of like-minded compatriots and pioneers, from whom he learns something new every day.

Nathan Moody, Design Director
Nathan has designed award-winning interfaces, interactions, illustrations, visual effects, motion, and sound for two decades, in almost every digital delivery medium communication channel, and industry vertical, for some of the world’s best known companies. His broad range of experience informs his cross-pollinated, holistic approach to the design, art, and craft of experience design. Nathan is a published author, awards judge, and frequent public speaker, and lives to explore what he doesn’t yet know.
