Interactive Chats: Designing for Mobile

AIGA San Francisco continues its series of evening events that will focus on interactive design topics. Intended for designers with beginning to intermediate experience with designing and building for the web, tablet and mobile environments, each event will give you the chance to learn from local experts as well as share your own knowledge with other attendees.
The sessions will be a combination of lecture, discussion, and workshop activities, so bring your sketch pads and thinking caps.

Speakers: John Gallant & Scott Tran
Have you ever thought about creating a mobile app? What are some of the considerations to take into account in order to create a truly engaging user experience? Should you develop a native app or a web app? What are the benefits of each approach?
This interactive chat will focus on designing for mobile. Hot Studio’s John Gallant and Scott Tran will address best practices, smartphone features, creative tools/apps and engineering factors to assist in mobile design.
Don’t forget to bring your imagination as we will brainstorm some creative ideas together!
John Gallant is a design director at Hot Studio. John has worked at numerous digital agencies in Canada as well as Level Studios in California. He has spent the last 10 years focusing on mobile design. Some of his award-winning client work includes: BrooksBrothers, BlackBerry, Cisco, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Symantec, Yahoo! and eBay.
Scott Tran is a developer of iPhone and iPad apps. After spending many years doing Enterprise Java development, his appreciation for design has led him to work on iOS projects at Hot Studio.
