Design Competition Celebrates “Do-Gooders”
On July 9, 2009, AIGA San Francisco presented the winners in its “cause/affect design competition” at a ceremony that unveiled the winning work. cause/affect is a biennial graphic design competition which celebrates the work of designers and organizations who set out to positively impact our society. Produced by AIGA San Francisco, this is a competition for do-gooders who do good work.
The details of the competition were simple: all work entered must promote or support social good. All we asked is that it did not contribute directly to the profit of a commercial organization. And to qualify, work must have been produced between November 1, 2007 and June 19, 2009.
Judges Included:
- Valerie Casey, leader of the digital experience practice at IDEO and the founder and executive director of the Designers Accord;
- Brian Dougherty, partner at Celery Design Collaborative and a recognized leader in the field of sustainable design;
- Yvette Irvin, owner of SavvyClick Marketing; and
- Jean-Benoit Levy, international designer, author and educator.
Winning work will be displayed at the AIGA SF gallery through August 7, 2009. Winning entrants will also be featured on the cause/affect site. As the people’s choice winner, Office was able to name a beneficiary and selected “826 Valencia” to receive a $1,500 gift from AIGA San Francisco.
